Tips and Tricks

These handy tips are brilliant ideas, that I have seen or come across somehow, that make cooking everyday easier.

They are organized, so far, in no particular order 😉

COOK BACON ON YOUR GRILL!

This is tip #1. I often see a tasty vegan recipe that I know would be put over the top by adding bacon, but I don’t ever want all the splatter and the lingering, you’ve-recently-cooked-bacon smell in my kitchen. So make a foil pan and cook it outside! It does take about 10-12 minutes, and you will need to check on it every now and again, and you will need to flip it once or twice. But… never pass up a bacon opportunity again! (I just leave the foil “pan” on my grill until cooled and toss it then.)

USE BALL JAR LIDS AS PASTRY RINGS

Ever flip through Instagram hashtag feeds like #pastryfreshfaces and #bachour, and think, “I’m going to make that today, but oh man! I don’t have a pastry ring!”

Ball jar lids are a pretty close second, and one you already have on hand.

Save those whites of your watermelon and add to smoothies!

Again with the Ball jar lids

…but you can use them to control runaway chocolate chip cookies!

Butter some ball jar lid rings, and place a 2 Tbs ball of cookie dough that just won’t quit, and bake as normal. The lids will keep them in line.

Just use a butter knife to help loosen them.
